Chapter 3 - Installation and Database Creation

How to Set Up and Use OEM

To start the console, use the following command:

$ emctl start dbconsole 

The status information shown in Figure 3.14 will be generated.

Once the installation is complete, log onto it from the web interface is using UNIX, Linux, or Windows or use the OEM interface from Windows, Start Programs –Oracle Enterprise Manager Console environment. For those who are using the web browser version of OEM, type in the following address -http://<localhost>:port_numer/em

On the test server used in these examples, it is http://linuxhost:5500/em.

The port number can be changed by modifying $ORACLE_HOME/install/portlist.ini. This will invoke the OEM introductory screen, where the username and password are required to access the database. Refer to Figure 3.15.
