Easy Oracle Automation
Chapter 3 - Installation and Database Creation

How to Set Up and Use OEM

Enterprise Manager is installed with a default super administrator account called SYSMAN. During the installation, there will be a prompt to provide a password for SYSMAN. This is needed for initial login to Enterprise Manager. SYSMAN account cannot be deleted or renamed.

Oracle recommends creation of an administrator account using the SYSMAN account for each administrator (DBA) on the system. This will help control access for every DBA working on the system in various roles and responsibilities.

The installation script for Enterprise Manager is located in the $ORACLE_HOME/bin directory in UNIX and Linux and is known as emca. It presents a series of questions on hostname, instance name, etc. as follows. These screens may vary depending on the operating system being used.
