Management Options
This page allows the management of the
database with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM). OEM provides web
based management tools for individual databases as well as
centralized management tools for entire Oracle environment. To
use OEM, select Configure the Database with Enterprise Manager.

Configuration
If Oracle Management Agent exists
on
the host computer, select Use GridControl for Database
Management. Otherwise, select Use Database control for Database
Management. In this option, enable e-mail
Notifications and Enable Daily Backup can be set up.
Database Credentials
Here
the
passwords for accounts like SYS and SYSTEM, DBSNMP, and SYSMAN
are specified.
Although it is not recommended, to use the same password for all
accounts, specify Use the Same Password for All Accounts.
Storage Options
In Oracle Database 10g, there are three
choices for the storage sub system - File System, Raw Devices,
or Automatic Storage Management (ASM).
Make that choice here. Figure
3.7 displays the Storage Options screen. Setting up an ASM instance will be examined in more detail in a
later chapter,
and more details on possible problems with setting
up ASM files in Linux
will be provided later in this chapter. If the ASM
option is chosen, the ASM managed disk(s) will appear in the
selection to be added for storage.
