Easy Oracle Automation
Chapter 3 - Installation and Database Creation

Using DBCA to Create a Database

  • Database Content

  • Initialization Parameters

  • Database Storage

  • Creation Options

Most of the prompts have a default setting. To accept all default parameters, click Finish at any step.

Database Templates

This prompt enables the selection of the type of database to create. By default, there are templates for Data Warehouse, General Purpose and Transaction Processing. These templates have settings optimized for workload. Click Show Details to see the configuration of each type of database.

For Complex environments, select Custom Database option. The interview for this option is much more extensive and subsequently it takes longer to create the database.

Database Identification

Database configuration options are Global Database Name, Oracle System Identifier (SID) and sample schemas. Enter the Global Database Name and the database domain name.
