Setup Oracle
Database 10g
In this chapter, the installation of Oracle
software and a starter database using Oracle Universal Installer
(OUI) will be examined. Readers are also requested to refer to the
appropriate reference platform-dependent manuals for more
details. Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) is the Graphical
User
Interface
(GUI) tool that allows installation and removal of the software
on appropriate platforms.
Oracle Database
10g Prerequisites
Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) checks the
environment to verify that it meets the minimum requirements for
successful installation. This early analysis for potential
problems with the system setup reduces any chances of problems
during the installation process.
OUI performs all pre-requisite checks
defined for the installation process before installing any
software. These checks include OUI-specific
verifications and those defined for a specific
product for the particular operating system on which OUI runs.
All pre-requisite check parameters must be defined in the
oraparam.ini file or another user-defined .ini file.
All results are logged in the installActions<timestamp>.log
file.
