Manage Workspace to Schema Assignments

Each workspace must have a schema associated with it.  This schema is the Parsed As schema, which will be used in the applications.  There can be more than one schema associated with a workspace.  Each schema can be used by different applications in the workspace, but an application can have only one parsing schema

To associate a schema with a workspace or to create a new schema, click on the Create button.

1.       Indicate if the schema will be a new schema or if an existing one is to be reused, and then click Next.

2.       Use the up arrow to choose the workspace then click Next.

3.       Provide the existing schema name or a new schema.  This is an actual user schema in the database.  Enter the password for the schema owner.  Next, the default and temporary tablespaces are chosen by using the up arrows.  Check with the Database Administrator to ensure the correct choices are made.  Click Next.

4.       The Confirmation page will appear with the summary of the choices made in the wizard.  Click on Add Schema to create or re-use the schema.

Managing the Developers and Users

Inside HTML DB, a person can be one of three types of users: an Administrator; a Developer; or a User.  A User is simply a person who has a login but no Developer or Administrator privileges.  A user can only run the production web site.  A developer can create and develop applications within a workspace.  The Administrator will be able to use the Administrator functions within HTML DB.

When adding a new person to the system, the administrator will be presented the page shown in Figure 15.17.  This is the same page used for managing users.

  • User Name:  This will be filled in with the login id for the person

  • Email Address:  This will be the email address of the user

  • Default Schema:  This is the schema associated with the workspace that the user will work with.

  • Workspace:  This is the workspace to which the user will have access.

  • First Name, Last Name and Description:  These are optional fields.

  • Password and Confirm Password:  These are the password for the login id.

  • Developers Privileges:  These are to indicate the users’ privileges within the system.  The user can be a developer or an administrator.  If both are set to NO, the user will only have privileges to run an application.
